Oscar Time! Which Best Pic Looks Like Your Career Page?

It’s OSCAR time.  Me and the gang at Three Ears Media (I’m looking at you Katrina) love a great movie! I mean, have you seen The Wife yet? omg.

On that note, we also love a great career website. To honor Oscar season, I did a mashup of Best Picture nominees with the types of career websites we have viewed at 3E. Do any of these reflect your career website?

1) Roma:  Your careers site looks BEAUTIFUL, but doesn’t say a whole lot. And when it does share something incredible, and there is a lot of incredible, it takes a long time to get there.  You know, like when it takes 10 clicks on your site to get to the apply button? If you are modeling agency, this strategy can work. Everyone else, uh, no.

2) Black Panther:  You’ve hit the motherload with your career site!  It’s new! It’s original! It speaks to your audience and draws in a whole lotta candidates.  Why? Because the best-in-class candidates, the ones you want, are completely engaged with your content.

3) A Star is Born.  Your careers site is all about relatable storytelling.  Lots of close up videos of employees sharing their day-in-the-life stories. Your content shares the good, the bad and the ugly in an authentic way. You know these people, you are these people! Their stories give you all the feels you need to click apply.

4) Bohemian Rhapsody: With this career site, something isn’t quite right. Your company is great, at times really great.  But there is something on your careers site that is taking all your focus. Kinda like the fake Freddie teeth in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody.  What is it?  Oh!  Your CEO thinks the careers site should be about him. His mug, welcome letter, blog posts, and glassdoor ratings are everywhere. Because well, of course, he IS the company.  If this is your website, your company doesn’t have a culture, it is actually kinda his cult.

Folks – Those are all the best picture nominees I have seen so far. I’m feeling VICE and Blackkklansman will be in my imminent future, so more to come.

We would love to hear your versions of these Best Pic “websites”.  Share and comment – if we like what we read, we may put you in our upcoming newsletter!
